Arco Madrid 2024: Record Attendance and Latin American Focus

festival-fair · 2026-03-14

The 43rd edition of Arco Madrid wrapped up with an unprecedented number of visitors and impressive sales results, shifting its schedule from late February to early March. Director Maribel López announced that these new dates will be permanent. The fair showcased 205 galleries from 36 nations, with 30% hailing from Spain, alongside notable participation from Portugal, Germany, France, and Latin America. The VIP program attracted 350 collectors and 200 industry professionals. Noteworthy trends included a decline in photography and video, alongside an increase in craft materials and installations. The Museo Reina Sofía acquired 30 pieces from 22 artists, while the Spanish Ministry of Culture purchased works from Italian galleries. Mónica Mays received the Illy sustainArt Prize. Urvanity moved to Matadero with 40 galleries, and JustMad, despite celebrating 15 years, saw a decrease in vitality with around 40 galleries.
