ARCO Lisboa Expands with New Curated Section and 86 Galleries
Founded in 2016 by galleries that encouraged Carlos Urroz to establish the format in Lisbon, ARCO Lisboa started with 45 galleries at Cordoaria Nacional. It has grown, welcoming new international galleries such as Madragoa and Monitor. The fair adopts a curated approach, featuring one artist per ten square meters, with larger spaces accommodating up to six artists. This year, a new section titled "Arquipélago de Histórias da Arte," curated by Cosmin Costinaș, presents six galleries. Director Maribel López emphasizes the relationship between commerce and curation. The event showcases 86 galleries from 17 nations, representing over 470 artists, and has invited 190 professionals, including 100 collectors and prominent galleries from Portugal and abroad.
