Archivio Pier Achille Cuniberti launched in Bologna

In Bologna, a new non-profit organization named the Archivio Pier Achille Cuniberti has been formed to protect and promote the legacy of the Bolognese artist. The archive, led by Barbara Cuniberti as president and Alessandro Bergonzoni as vice president, intends to maintain the complete collection of Cuniberti's works and serve as a vital research hub. Pier Achille Cuniberti (1923–2023) significantly influenced post-war Italian art, excelling in various mediums like painting, photography, and design. He graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna in 1948 after studying under Giorgio Morandi and Giovanni Romagnoli. His art has been showcased in cities including Bologna, Milan, and New York. A major retrospective was held at the Museo Civico Archeologico di Bologna in 2001, and for his centenary in 2023, the Comune di Bologna honored him with a symbolic window at Palazzo d'Accursio. The archive plans to produce a critical anthology edited by Pasquale Fameli (Quodlibet), a catalogue raisonné, and a bilingual monograph on his paintings, alongside enhancing digital access through a revamped website and a new Instagram account.
