Archives de la critique d'art: New premises and expanded ambitions
On November 18, 2011, the Archives de la critique d'art opened its new location in Rennes, which spans 600 m² within an office building accessible via bus from Frac Bretagne and Rennes 2 University. Established in the late 1980s by Jacques Leenhardt and Jean-Marc Poinsot, this institution specializes in the collection of art critics' archives, featuring 65 archival fonds and over 300 fonds of writings, amounting to 1.5 kilometers, including 80,000 printed materials. Significant fonds comprise those of Dany Bloch, Georges Boudaille, and Don Foresta. Under the leadership of Henri Jobbé-Duval, it broadened its scope to include archives from art centers and began publishing the semiannual journal Critique d'art, which transitioned to an online format in November 2012. Jean-Marc Poinsot highlighted the importance of digitization, global collaborations, and the expansion of training.
