Architects Draw Childhood Spaces in Zurich Exhibition

The exhibition "Architecture of Memory – Recollecting Spaces" at Architekturforum Zurich invites over 50 Swiss architects to translate childhood memories into drawings. Curated by architects Clara Maria Puglisi, Sonja Elisabeth Fuchs, and Elodie Haber, the show runs until April 26. It began as a 2022 experiment where architects and artists sketched personal recollections, resulting in a diverse collection from quick sketches to detailed illustrations. Participants include Lilitt Bollinger, president of the Swiss Association of Architects. The curators emphasize that drawing, typically a design tool, becomes an autonomous artwork here, revealing how childhood perceptions of space—dimensions, proportions, sensory details—persist as memories and stories. The exhibition explores the link between memory, architecture, and drawing, offering a collective experience through individual narratives.
