Architect Pierluigi Nicolin dies at 84
Pierluigi Nicolin, an esteemed architect, critic, and editor, passed away at the age of 84. A wake is scheduled for March 28 at Spazio Cuore in Triennale Milano. Born in Bareggio in 1941, Nicolin graduated from Politecnico di Milano in 1967 and launched his career in 1968. He was a co-founder of Gregotti Associati during the 1970s and established Studio Nicolin in 1978. Nicolin also taught at both the University of Palermo and Politecnico di Milano, while leading Lotus International from 1978 until his passing. He was awarded the Gold Medal for Criticism by Triennale Milano in 2003 and the Italian Architecture Prize in 2024. His notable works include the Accademia Bridge, the Garibaldi-Repubblica district, and the renovation of Pavilion 6 at Fiera Milano.
