Architect and designer Valerio Castelli dies at 76

Valerio Castelli, architect and designer, died on January 29, 2023, at age 76. He was a key figure in Italian design, serving as art director for Flou (over 25 years) and Kartell (15 years), winning the Compasso d'Oro in 1977. He also worked for Olivetti as design management head (2004-2008). In 2011, he co-founded MoscaPartners with his wife Caterina Mosca, which created Palazzo Litta Cultura and Design Variations for Milan Design Week. Castelli co-founded Modo magazine (1977) with Alessandro Mendini and Giovanni Cutolo, and Domus Academy (1983). He also launched the Design Library project in Milan (2007-2015), hosting over 230 lectures.
