Aranchii Architects completes bright red logistics hub in Ukraine

architecture-design · 2026-05-31

Aranchii Architects has completed the Prostir Business Hub in Zymna Voda, a village on the outskirts of Lviv, Ukraine. The 12,000-square-metre logistics hub for Alterra Group comprises three warehouse-like buildings clad in bright red metal panels, a color inspired by Falun red traditionally used on Scandinavian barns. The design emphasizes flexibility and modularity, with steel roofs supported by concrete columns allowing easy subdivision. Chief architect Dmytro Aranchii noted the challenge of maintaining architectural quality under wartime budget constraints, stating the red color creates a dialogue with greenery and acts as a landmark of stability. The roofs transition from single asymmetric gable to multiple gables, blending human-scale frontage with industrial scale at the rear. Inside, red-painted steelwork contrasts with white-metal ceilings and exposed concrete. Large glazed openings face the road for showroom use, while multiple entrances ensure light and accessibility. Aranchii founded his practice in 2008, based in Kyiv, and recently proposed an undulating church and air raid shelter. The project was photographed by Alik Usik.
