Arab Galleries Spotlight Regional Narratives at Art Basel Paris 2024
Art Basel Paris 2024 is taking place at the Grand Palais until 20 October, highlighting galleries from the Arab region amidst ongoing contemporary issues. Loft Art Gallery makes its debut with a mini-retrospective dedicated to Moroccan Modernist Mohamed Melehi, showcasing pieces from his time in Rome during the 1950s until his passing in 2020. ATHR Gallery features Saudi talents such as Muhannad Shono and Mohammad Alfaraj. Marfa' Projects combines the works of Lebanese artist Seta Manoukian with 1990s sculptures by Paola Yacoub. Galerie Sfeir-Semler exhibits creations by Aref El Rayess, Samia Halaby, and includes a work from 2023 Marcel Duchamp Prize winner Tarik Kiswanson. The Institut du Monde Arabe is hosting the ARABOFUTURS exhibition until 27 October, with contributions from artists like Larissa Sansour. Over 190 galleries are involved.
