APTITUDEforthearts Launches with Margherita Raso Installation at Trino Abbey

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The new project APTITUDEforthearts, founded by Marina Roncarolo with artistic direction by Paola Nicolin, launches in Trino, province of Vercelli, Italy. From May 30 to October 24, 2021, artist Margherita Raso (born 1991 in Lecco) presents an installation in the bell tower of the Abbey of Santa Maria in Lucedio. The project focuses on site-specific interventions by women artists in historic spaces undergoing restoration or disuse. Raso's work combines three-dimensional and sound pieces, created in collaboration with American musician Kali Malone, engaging with the architectural and historical context of the Cistercian abbey founded around 1123. The initiative aims to create a map of contemporary art installations in the region's ancient rice production centers (grange), highlighting the area's history of women's labor, including a 1906 strike by rice field workers who won an eight-hour workday and two lire daily pay.
