Apple TV+ to Release First Peanuts Musical in August 2025

Apple TV+ has announced its first musical special dedicated to the Peanuts gang, titled "Snoopy presenta: il musical dell'estate" (Snoopy Presents: Summer Musical), set to premiere on August 15, 2025. The project marks the 75th anniversary of the Peanuts franchise, created by Charles M. Schulz in 1950. Produced by Peanuts and WildBrain, the film follows Charlie Brown and friends as they try to save a mountain summer camp from closure due to low enrollment. Snoopy and Woodstock discover a treasure chest containing musical instruments and photos of past concerts, inspiring the group to organize a musical event to rescue the camp. The film is directed by Erik Wiese and written by Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz, and Cornelius Uliano. Original songs include "When We Were Light," "Look Up, Charlie Brown," and "Leave It Better" by Ben Folds. The Peanuts comic strip, translated into over 20 languages and published in more than 70 countries, ran continuously from 1950 to 2000. It debuted in Italy on February 20, 1961, in the newspaper Paese Sera. Notable Italian intellectual Umberto Eco was a fan and translator of the series, describing it as "a microcosm, a little human comedy."
