Apple's iPhone 11 Pro captures 5-hour single-shot tour of Hermitage

digital · 2026-04-27

Apple released a 5-hour, 19-minute, 28-second continuous single-shot video tour of the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, filmed entirely on an iPhone 11 Pro. The video showcases the device's 4K video quality and battery endurance under heavy use. It traverses 45 rooms and 2.5 million square meters of exhibition space, featuring nearly 600 works by artists including Caravaggio, Rembrandt, and Rubens, along with live performances by musicians and dancers. The film was directed by Axinya Gog and draws inspiration from Alexander Sokurov's 2002 film Russian Ark, which used the same technique with a conventional video camera. Gog stated, 'This video speaks about connection through time—timeless art meets modern life and the most advanced technology.'
