Appia Antica Art Project Launches in Rome with Nature-Focused Exhibitions
Curator Maila Buglioni has launched Appia Antica Art Project, a new exhibition concept in Rome centered on the relationship between art and landscape, art and nature. The project aims to reconnect individuals with places and their natural evolutions, fostering reconciliation with the environment. Buglioni describes it as a departure from conventional gallery shows, placing art in everyday spaces like a café and historical sites like the Appia Antica, where nature dominates. A series of biweekly exhibitions will run from early September to late October 2016 at Appia Antica Caffè. The inaugural event, titled "Arte&Natura#0: Antitetiche Relazioni," is scheduled for Friday, September 2, 2016, at 6 PM. It features emerging Italian artists Stefano Frascarelli and Giada Passaretti. Frascarelli's painting is influenced by William Congdon's Action Painting, while Passaretti develops a distinctive idiom reworking the human figure in geometric and plastic terms, drawing from Cubism and Fauvism.
