Aphex Redditor turns bed rotting into 24-hour performance at Eastern Bloc

Last month at Eastern Bloc in Montreal, artist Aphex Redditor performed BedRot, a 24-hour piece in which she lay on a bed scrolling Instagram Reels continuously. The phone screen was projected in real time, exposing the algorithm's behavior as it adapted to her interactions. The work radicalizes post-internet art by embracing total passivity: the artist neither filters nor selects, letting the algorithm construct the experience. BedRot transforms the private act of bed rotting—a state between burnout and escapism—into a public gesture, making visible the invisible architecture of social media. The performance ran for 24 consecutive hours.
