AOUMM Architects on Milan's New San Cristoforo Bridge and Punto Luce Center

architecture-design · 2026-04-26

Milanese architecture studio AOUMM, founded by Luca Astorri, Matteo Poli, Riccardo Maria Balzarotti, and Rossella Locatelli, completed two major projects in Milan in 2025: the Punto Luce socio-educational center in the Gallaratese district and the San Cristoforo cycle-pedestrian bridge in the Lorenteggio/Giambellino area. Punto Luce, inaugurated in May 2025, is a wooden structure with a green roof built on the foundations of a derelict 1960s building, designed for Save the Children as part of their national network of educational hubs for children aged 6–17. The bridge, winner of a 2019 competition, connects Lorenteggio and Ronchetto sul Naviglio to the San Cristoforo M4 metro stop, featuring six distinct pillars paying homage to Milanese architects Aldo Rossi, Gae Aulenti, Angelo Mangiarotti, Alessandro Mendini, Franco Albini, and Gio Ponti. AOUMM also collaborated with photographer Giovanna Silva on the book 'Album Architetture – Maputo', documenting modernist architecture in Maputo, Mozambique. The studio's ongoing projects include a permaculture farm in Azerbaijan and a consultancy for a Ligurian yacht builder.
