Antwaun Sargent's 'The New Black Vanguard' Explores Black Photographers in Fashion and Art

Antwaun Sargent's 2019 publication, 'The New Black Vanguard: Photography Between Art and Fashion,' explores a pivotal transformation in visual culture influenced by Black photographers. Featuring fifteen portfolios, the book highlights artists such as Tyler Mitchell, the first Black photographer to capture a cover for American Vogue, Campbell Addy, who established Nii Agency and its journal, and Nadine Ijewere, recognized for her work 'The Misrepresentation of Representation.'
