Antonio Rovaldi's 'Mattina 2016' Opens at IIC Lisbon
The Istituto Italiano di Cultura (IIC) in Lisbon continues its cycle of contemporary Italian art exhibitions with a new configuration of Antonio Rovaldi's 'Mattina 2016,' previously shown at Madrid's The Goma gallery. Curated by Marta Silvi, the show occupies the former chapel of the noble palace housing the IIC. Rovaldi's work explores the emotional and physical state before a journey, using photographs and newspaper clippings. The artist describes the camera as a direct tool for taking notes, noting that each landscape element carries its own temporality. The exhibition opened recently and runs until August 8, 2016. This follows a solo show by sculptor Roberto Almagno, curated by Lorenzo Canova, organized under the direction of Luisa Violo, who took over as IIC director a few months prior.
