Antonio Marras: Nulla dies sine linea at Triennale Milano

The Triennale Design Museum in Milan presents 'Nulla dies sine linea', a retrospective of Antonio Marras, winner of the Premio Francesca Alinovi and participant in a recent Venice Biennale. Curated by Francesca Alfano Miglietti, the exhibition occupies the Curva Est and features over 500 drawings, paintings, collages, installations, wall interventions, and environments, many previously unseen. Marras reworked old frames with fabrics and hung them along the walls, creating 'rooms' inhabited by vintage clothes and objects. The entrance features a curtain of black jackets with golden bells, followed by a row of white shirts scented with lavender. Installations include 'comari' (gossiping figures) made of stuffed humanoids tied with red threads, originally shown in a former prison in Alghero. Marras collaborated with artists Maria Lai and Carol Rama, whom he considers mentors. The show also includes twenty diaries remade for the Venice Biennale after the originals were lost. Marras, a fashion designer known for his 'stracci' (rags), reveals a hidden artistic practice driven by grief and compulsion. The exhibition runs from October 22, 2016 to January 21, 2017.
