Antonio Latella's 16-hour Atridi Marathon at Teatro delle Passioni

Antonio Latella's monumental project 'Santa Estasi' premiered at the Teatro delle Passioni in Modena, a 16-hour theatrical marathon exploring the Atridi family saga through eight autonomous but interconnected chapters. The production involved sixteen young actors from the ERT-Emilia Romagna Teatro's advanced training course, with Latella working as a pedagogue for five months. The play adapts classical tragedies by Euripides and Seneca, rewritten by seven young dramaturgs working alongside the director and actors. The performance features recurring characters like Agamemnon, Menelaus, Orestes, and Clytemnestra, with actors playing multiple roles, quick changes, and audience interactions. Notable sequences include a chorus shouting in Greek with dance movements, Orestes killing his mother while combing her hair, and Menelaus appearing as a bather. The final chapter 'Crisotemi', written by Linda Dalisi, focuses on the previously unexplored character of Crisotemi, Agamemnon's fourth daughter, performed by Giuliana Vigogna. The production uses props from previous shows, including a giant carousel unicorn, and incorporates songs like 'Cicale', 'Yellow Submarine', and 'Dance Me to the End of Love'.
