Antonio Citterio Designs Curvilinear Quincy Sofa for Flexform with Fluid, Convivial Architecture

Italian architect Antonio Citterio has created the Quincy sofa for furniture maker Flexform, rejecting rigid angles in favor of a curvilinear, enveloping form. The design features gently rounded corners and plump, down-filled seat cushions tucked under a continuous backrest, with this distinctive tuck detail exposed only at the corners. Citterio explained that the sofa stems from a reflection on the role of seating in contemporary spaces, with the curvilinear configuration introducing a more fluid and convivial dimension to living areas while maintaining clear architectural structure. The Quincy seating system includes a wide range of elements such as a chaise longue, allowing for dynamic configurations designed for sharing and natural interaction with more formal furnishings. Together with Flexform's extensive upholstery options, the system enables a high degree of personalization.
