Antinori family patronage showcased in Florence exhibition
The exhibition at the Museo del Bargello in Florence reunites a 1520s glazed terracotta lunette by Giovanni della Robbia with its patron family, the Antinori, for the first time in over a century. The lunette, depicting the Resurrection of Christ, was commissioned by Niccolò di Tommaso Antinori for his villa in the Florentine hills. It was sold in 1898 to New York businessman Aaron Augustus Healy, who donated it to the Brooklyn Museum. The exhibition also features a portrait of Healy by John Singer Sargent and a contemporary site-specific work by Italian artist Stefano Arienti, titled "Scena fissa," which reinterprets the della Robbia lunette. A second Arienti piece, "Altorilievo," is installed at the Antinori winery in Chianti Classico. The restoration of the lunette was funded by Marchesi Antinori Spa.
