Antica Saliera: New Contemporary Art Space Opens in Lecce
Curator Gina Affinito has inaugurated Antica Saliera, a new exhibition space and studio in the historic center of Lecce, Italy. Located in Via degli Antoglietta within a 13th-century palace that was part of a Jesuit convent, the venue spans three floors including a hypogeum hall where a Messapic child's tomb was discovered. The space opened on May 19 with a group show featuring local artists Lucio Calogiuri, Daniele Dell'Angelo Custode, Giovanni Mangia, Maurizio Muscettola, Pablo Peron, and Domenico Ruccia, plus a site-specific installation by Mina D'Elia inspired by the tomb. Affinito plans a future exhibition titled 'Idea dentro la donna' in August, featuring seven female artists embodying seven Greek goddesses. Antica Saliera aims to serve as a multifunctional cultural hub for the community, hosting presentations, conferences, courses, photo shoots, and other cultural events.
