Anthony Olubunmi Akinbola's Durag Florals at Carbon 12

Carbon 12 in Dubai presents 'Get Well Soon', an exhibition of new paintings by Anthony Olubunmi Akinbola. The artist uses durags—stretchable hair fabrics—to construct floral still lifes, building images through seams and folds rather than painted illusion. He increasingly produces the durags in his studio from raw materials, controlling color while keeping the object's form. Alongside floral arrangements, Akinbola explores brick motifs derived from earlier line-and-column systems, shifting from abstraction to representation. The title 'Get Well Soon' evokes hope and uncertainty. Two installations extend the theme: a bouquet of helium balloons slowly deflates over the exhibition's run, grounded by perfume bottles, while a diffuser releases a fragrance created by the artist. The exhibition runs at Carbon 12 in Dubai.
