Anthology of Thirty Human Shoe Stories Published
Edited by Wolfram Schneider-Lastin and Christa Prameshuber, the book "Ich erröte vom Schaft bis zur Sohle" collects thirty short stories centered on shoes. The idea originated during a November 2024 reading tour in Austria, when the editors visited the Linz Shoe Museum and were inspired by director Sigfried Hain's collection. Authors from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland each contributed one story; the editors each wrote two. The anthology includes tales ranging from a celebrated opera singer's shoes shipped individually to New York ("Die getrennten Brüder") to a con artist's elegant footwear used in a jewel heist based on a true event ("Der Trick"). Other stories explore the origin of the Italian word "stiletto," the English term "concealed shoes," and the shoe passion of museum director Hain ("Die Aufreger"). The volume, published in hardcover with 254 pages (ISBN 978-3-907238-52-3), offers a mix of humor, tragedy, and poetic reflection, as seen in "Das Regal" where three left shoes evoke a lost foot, and "Riemchen" with its lyrical touch.
