Anteo Palazzo del Cinema: Milan's New Multiplex Concept Opens September 7
Milan's Anteo Palazzo del Cinema, a reimagined multiplex, opens September 7, 2017. The historic Anteo cinema, originally built in the 1930s by architect Renzo Gerla and later a Casa del Fascio and Communist party headquarters, has been renovated and expanded from four to eleven screens across four floors. The €5.2 million project, designed by architect Riccardo Rocco and supported by the Comune di Milan, includes a literary café, a cinema-restaurant run by Eataly, a library, a nursery for children aged 3+, workshops for editing and photography, a screening room for Italian debut films, and one for original-language films. New 4K projectors and advanced audio systems will enhance screenings, and a digital membership card will replace paper tickets. The venue aims to attract younger audiences and increase annual attendance from 300,000 to 500,000. Open daily from 10 AM to 1 AM, the 5,000-square-meter space is part of Milan's new cultural hub near the Fondazione Feltrinelli by Herzog & de Meuron.
