Ant International, the international offshoot of Chinese fintech powerhouse Ant Group, has linked over 150 million merchants to more than 2 billion consumer accounts worldwide, establishing its payments network as a foundational element for the burgeoning AI commerce sector. These statistics were shared during the MoMents 2026 forum held in Kuala Lumpur from Monday to Wednesday. The network facilitates over 300 payment methods across 220 markets and handles upwards of 20 million transactions each day. Ant International aims to expand its presence in Asia, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Additionally, the company introduced the open-sourced Agentic Mobile Protocol, which allows AI agents to securely interact with digital wallets and banking applications, moving beyond conventional card systems. This week, Ant Group also launched an AI payment processing solution via Alipay for businesses, enabling automatic payments for merchants, including small businesses and solo entrepreneurs, when AI agents acquire their services, thus supporting pay-per-use models.
