Annual Commemoration on Via Mancinelli Honors Fausto and the 1990s

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-28

Every March 18, Via Mancinelli in Milan closes to traffic for a gathering that blends remembrance, memory, and protest. The street, connecting Casoretto to Leoncavallo, features a large mural of two smiling youths, a red star, raised fists, and carnations against the sky. Opposite, a small plaque is set into the bricks behind the Casoretto parish. The event draws young people in keffiyehs and earrings, many with white hair, and others arriving by bike after work. They share music, words, and mulled wine. The tradition has continued for nearly fifty years, since the death of Fausto T.
