Anne Buckwalter and Sinéad Breslin at Andrea Festa Gallery, Rome
Anne Buckwalter (b. 1987, Lancaster) and Sinéad Breslin (b. 1986, Limerick) present a two-person exhibition at Andrea Festa gallery in Rome. Buckwalter's paintings depict rarefied, claustrophobic interiors reminiscent of Flemish painting, filled with Dutch Folk Art furniture and Biedermeier chairs. Breslin's works capture figures in freeze-frame, disrupting perspective: in 'Postpartum' the floor becomes vertical; in 'Luda in Kazan' a woman's feet are submerged in water, breaking rhythmic striations.
