Annabel Elgar's staged photography at Nonostante Marras, Milan

Annabel Elgar's exhibition 'La sicurezza degli oggetti' is on view at Nonostante Marras in Milan, curated by Marcella Manni and organized with Galleria Metronom. The British artist (born 1971 in London) works in staged photography, reconstructing scenes based on absurd and mysterious real events—such as the disappearance of 180 lunar fragments from the Apollo mission or nuclear tests on miniature houses in the Nevada desert—to question our perception of reality. The show creates a dialogue with the venue, a former industrial workshop turned creative atelier and exhibition space in the Solari district. Elgar's images feature abandoned places, cellophane-wrapped evidence, dollhouses, obsessive embroideries, and masked dolls, blending documentation and fantasy to evoke collective unconscious fears.
