Annabel Aoun Blanco's 'Éloigne moi de toi' at Musée Réattu

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Annabel Aoun Blanco's exhibition 'Éloigne moi de toi' at Musée Réattu in Arles runs until December 29, 2019. Curated by Daniel Rouvier, the show presents photographs and videos from a single project begun in 2015, composed of interlocking cycles. The works depict generic faces obtained through plaster, sand, ash, or charcoal molds, often in series that undergo processes of alteration—such as blowing on an ash imprint—which paradoxically can enhance visibility. Aoun Blanco, born in 1987 of Franco-Lebanese-Venezuelan origin, explores the passage between memory and forgetting, appearance and disappearance, life and death. Her practice hybridizes photography and video in a looped dynamic. While the video works sometimes merely explicate the off-screen space of the photographs, the latter are valued for their evocative power. The exhibition includes pieces like 'le Cri' (triptych, 2016), 'Coups après coups' (series of 4 photographs, 2017), and 'Sablier' (triptych, 2017). Aoun Blanco's work is also on view at Galerie Agathe Gaillard in Paris until September 6, 2019, in the group show 'la Passeggiata'. A catalog edited by Daniel Rouvier is published by Silvana Editoriale/Musée Réattu (144 p., 24 euros).
