Anna Von Hausswolff and Nero Kane on Art and Music

Swedish musician Anna Von Hausswolff (born 1986, Göteborg) and Italian psych dark folk artist Nero Kane (Marco Mezzadri, born 1984, Milan) share their definitions of art and music in interviews. Von Hausswolff, a singer, composer, pianist, and organist blending darkwave, gothic rock, and krautrock, debuted in 2010 and has performed internationally with bands like Tindersticks and Swans. Her 2018 album used the 20th-century organ at Marble Church in Copenhagen and was produced by a member of Sunn O))). In 2018 she performed at the Nobel Banquet in Stockholm with the Royal Swedish Orchestra and Ballet. She also releases drawings and engravings in galleries. Nero Kane, whose debut album was produced in Los Angeles by Joe Cardamone (collaborator of James Williamson, Warren Ellis, Mark Lanegan), is compared to Nick Cave and Johnny Cash. His second album, produced by Matt Bordin, features violinist Nicola Manzan and Samantha Stella. Kane and Stella have performed at the Italian Institute of Culture in Los Angeles and various European venues. Kane cites Arnold Böcklin's "Isle of the Dead" (third version, 1883, at Alte Nationalgalerie, Berlin) as his favorite visual artwork.
