Anna Raimondo’s Sonic Residency Maps Aquatic Traces in Viterbo
Anna Raimondo concluded the third stage of her research project "Come un mare fuor d'acqua" in Viterbo, Italy, as part of the residency program Cantieri d'Arte/La ville ouverte curated by Marco Trulli. The artist conducted workshops with inmates at the local prison, Casa Circondariale, and collaborated with local youth to map an "aquatic" route through the city based on cinematic and literary references. The residency culminated in a mobile radio broadcast that traveled from Viterbo to the sea, featuring voices and sea melodies performed by the inmates. The project, titled "Forza e coraggio il mare è di passaggio," uses the sea as a fluid connector across different people, times, and spaces, bringing marginalized voices into public space through sound.
