Anna Maria Maiolino's 'Poetic Earth' at MAAT Lisbon
From March 25 to August 31, 2026, the MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology in Lisbon, Portugal, will present 'Anna Maria Maiolino. Poetic Earth.' Curated by João Pinharanda and Sérgio Mah, this exhibition showcases sculptures, drawings, and notes that delve into themes of repetition, touch, and vulnerability. Anna Maria Maiolino, who was born in Scalea, Italy, in 1942, has resided in Venezuela, Argentina, and the U.S., ultimately settling in Brazil in 1960. Her diverse body of work has been featured globally, including at dOCUMENTA 13 in 2012 and the 2024 Venice Biennale, where she was honored with the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement. The exhibition will also introduce new works that reference Brazil's military dictatorship, with philosopher Kathrin Busch discussing vulnerability and resistance.
