Anna Magnani Exhibition at Vittoriano Explores Actress's Life and Career

A major exhibition titled "Anna Magnani, la vita e il cinema" is on view at the Vittoriano (Sala Zanardelli) in Rome until October 22, 2017. Curated by film critic and director Mario Sesti, the show presents a cultural journey through photographs, audio, and video materials, including unpublished documents tracing Magnani's career from theater and revues to her success at Cinecittà and Hollywood. The exhibition is part of the broader series "Il Vittoriano tra musica, letteratura, cinema e architettura," promoted by the Polo Museale del Lazio, directed by Edith Gabrielli. It highlights both Magnani's professional life on set and her private, domestic side, described by Sesti as a journey into the imagination and memory of an icon whose body and representation still radiate an unmistakable sense of her personality. The exhibition features a documentary from the Teche Rai archives, a selection of her most famous film scenes, and an original edition of newsreels from the Istituto Luce. A film series accompanies the show, including screenings of "Bellissima" by Luchino Visconti, "Mamma Roma" by Pier Paolo Pasolini (July 31, 9 PM), and "L'amore" by Roberto Rossellini (August 7, 9 PM), each preceded by readings from the actress's writings and interviews. The exhibition runs until October 22, 2017, at the Complesso del Vittoriano, Sala Zanardelli.
