Anna Katz Appointed Head of Painting and Sculpture at SFMOMA
Beginning August 17, 2026, Anna Katz will assume the role of Senior Curator and Head of Painting and Sculpture at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), marking a significant moment as it's the inaugural appointment since the position's inception by the Fisher family. With nearly 20 years of curatorial experience, Katz will work alongside Christopher Bedford and Janet Bishop, focusing on exhibitions and acquisitions, while managing the museum’s painting and sculpture collections, inclusive of the Fisher Collection. Katz previously held positions at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles and was a fellow at the Whitney Museum.
