Anna Dormio's 'Continuum' at Spazio Microba, Bari

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Anna Dormio, a 1994-born artist from Monopoli, presents her first solo exhibition in Bari titled 'Continuum' at Spazio Microba, opening May 14, 2021. Curated by Riccardo Pavone and Marialuisa Sorrentino with Nicola Zito, the show features the series 'I Ravennati'—101 unique black-and-white analog photographs taken between 2017 and 2021, collected from cities where Dormio lived. She reworks these vintage images using Byzantine gold leaf technique, covering erased faces and gazes of deceased individuals, reviving them through personal memory. Dormio won the photography competition 'L'Assenza'. Her poetics explore Parmenidean time as a fusion of past and present, accumulation of detail, and themes of loss, abandonment, and memory in constant dialogue with thanatos.
