Anna Di Prospero: autoritratti tra spazio e identità

artist · 2026-05-04

Anna Di Prospero, born in Rome in 1987, is an Italian photographer whose work investigates the connection between the body and space through self-portraiture. In 2008, after leaving university, she enrolled at IED in Rome with the help of a scholarship. Between 2007 and 2009, she created the series "Self portrait at home," capturing herself in her family's new home in Sermoneta. Her artwork is categorized into three sections: "I am here" (places), "With you" (people), and "Beyond the visible" (introspective). In 2010, she received a scholarship for a six-month program at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Upon her return, she produced family self-portraits, including a winning image with her mother. Notably, she was invited by then-Rome mayor Walter Veltroni to exhibit at the Festival Fotografia after being contacted on Flickr. The "Beyond the visible" series features post-processed images of galaxies, inspired by Terrence Malick's film "The tree of life." Di Prospero cites Amalia Ulman as an influence, and her work appeared in Artribune Magazine #44.
