Anna Cestelli Guidi Rebuts Daniele Pittèri's Claim That Auditorium Lacks Visual Arts Know-How

Anna Cestelli Guidi, curator and exhibition referent at Fondazione Musica per Roma, has responded to former CEO Daniele Pittèri's statement that the foundation lacks expertise in visual arts and exhibitions. In an interview published on Artribune on July 24, 2024, Pittèri justified the absence of a visual arts program during his 2020–2024 mandate by citing a lack of internal know-how. Cestelli Guidi counters that the foundation had a robust visual arts program for nearly twenty years before Pittèri's arrival, including the AuditoriumArte exhibition space, the One Space/One Sound series (launched in 2012 with Massimo Bartolini, reaching its 14th edition in 2019), and the monthly Sound Corner project (also started in 2012, still ongoing). She emphasizes the potential of the Auditorium Parco della Musica, designed by Renzo Piano, for site-specific and interdisciplinary projects that explore the relationship between sound and visual arts. The foundation's response, also published, clarifies that Cestelli Guidi is an employee classified under the national contract's first level, working under the coordination of an area manager, and that her role does not include a curatorial position in visual arts. The foundation maintains that despite past exhibitions, the Auditorium did not become a destination for art lovers, confirming Pittèri's assessment.
