Ann Hirsch's Institutional Solo Debut at MIT List Showcases Feminist Digital Art

Los Angeles artist Ann Hirsch delves into feminist topics surrounding body image and digital representation. This month, her inaugural solo exhibition at MIT List showcases significant pieces such as the video 'Here For You (Or my Brief Love Affair with Frank Maresca)' (2011), which reflects on her time on VH1's 'Frank the Entertainer In A Basement Affair' (2010). The exhibition also features 'The Scandalishious Project' (2008–9), a satire of YouTube culture, and a jailbroken iPad with the prohibited app 'Twelve', recounting her early chatroom interactions. Hirsch's website hornylil-feminist.com includes videos like 'yuppie life' (2015). She earned her MFA from Syracuse University and has shown her work at venues such as Smart Objects and Arcadia Missa. Additionally, her art was included in 'Electronic Superhighway (2016 – 1966)' at Whitechapel Gallery, London, from 29 January to 15 May 2016.
