Anita Conti Photo Exhibition at Quai de la Photo Blends Documentary and Poetry
From May 6 to June 5, 2026, Quai de la Photo in Paris presents an exhibition of around thirty photographs by Anita Conti, a self-taught oceanographer, journalist, writer, and photographer. The show, part of a broader program from April 27 to June 5 that uses navigation as a thread to reveal invisible realities, highlights Conti's pioneering work documenting life at sea. Her images, taken under harsh conditions aboard fishing and research vessels, combine scientific observation with poetic sensibility. The exhibition is organized by Seine Avenue, a company offering private cruises on the Seine, which partnered with Quai de la Photo to mark its 15th anniversary. Conti (1899-1997) first encountered the sea on Oléron Island during World War I and went on to produce over 40,000 photographs, warning early about overfishing. Her archives are held at the Archives de Lorient.
