Anish Kapoor Secures Exclusive Artistic Rights to Vantablack S-VIS

Anish Kapoor has obtained sole artistic rights to Vantablack S-VIS, a sprayable version of the ultra-black material. Surrey Nanosystems developed Vantablack in 2014, a carbon nanotube substance absorbing 99.96% of light. Kapoor expressed interest in the material shortly after its announcement. The artist's exclusive arrangement covers artistic applications of Vantablack S-VIS, preventing other artists from using it. Surrey Nanosystems continues scientific research into Vantablack's applications outside the art world. This arrangement was reported by the Daily Mail in March 2016.
