Angelo Sarleti's Site-Specific Works at Villa Rospigliosi Confront Fake News and Social Media

exhibition · 2026-04-26

At Villa Rospigliosi in Prato, a project initiated in 2019 by Claudio Seghi Rospigliosi with the association ChorAsis continues to host contemporary art. The current exhibition features works by Angelo Sarleti (born 1979 in Reggio Calabria), curated by Riccardo Farinelli. Sarleti's pieces, all created for the occasion, blend abstract geometric forms with data and statistics to address pressing contemporary issues. Highlights include Doppelgänger, a giant tarp reproducing the villa's facade; a video titled Narciso/Narcosi inspired by Marshall McLuhan critiquing social media; Cross, an installation with four smartphones in lemon pots broadcasting conflicting news; Senza titolo (Geopolitica, Economia, Tecnologia, Ambiente, Sociale), a double-faced painting referencing the Global Risk Report 2025; and Creator o 666 modi di dire fascismo, a video using 666 CapCut templates to display the word 'Fascism' in hypnotic typography, critiquing how trend-driven communication normalizes the unspeakable.
