Angelo Piero Cappello: bilancio due anni alla guida della Creatività Contemporanea MIC

Angelo Piero Cappello, who was appointed in 2023 as the General Director of Contemporary Creativity at the Ministry of Culture, reflects on the achievements of his first two years in office. Key accomplishments include enhancing internationalization through the new Fund for the Promotion of Italian Culture Abroad (2025-2027), strengthening initiatives like the Italian Council, PAC, Strategia Fotografia, and the Contemporary Creativity Laboratory, and launching new projects such as Il Museo Rigenera (900.000 euro). The Italian Council has supported 185 projects from 2023 to 2025 with over 7.5 million euros, increasing funding from 2.16 million (2023) to 2.7 million (2025). The PAC backed 106 projects exceeding 9.5 million euros, while Strategia Fotografia doubled its budget from 1.5 to 3 million euros, selecting 58 projects in 2024. The Contemporary Creativity Laboratory funded 97 projects between 2022 and 2025, with investments rising from 1.27 to over 1.8 million euros. In architecture, the Atlante Architettura Contemporanea added ten thematic routes with nearly 3,000 photographs, and the survey of Italian architecture since 1945 surpassed 5,000 entries. Cappello also emphasizes the commitment to the Mattei Plan for Culture, focusing on programs for African nations and the broader Mediterranean region.
