Angelo Pezzana proposes first Italian museum of homosexuality in Turin
Angelo Pezzana, the founder of FUORI! and president of the Fondazione Sandro Penna-FUORI!, along with co-president Maurizio Gelatti, has put forth a proposal to Turin's mayor, Stefano Lo Russo, and regional governor, Alberto Cirio, for establishing Italy's inaugural museum dedicated to homosexuality. They believe that Turin, recognized as the 'capital of rights' in Italy, should safeguard the legacy of the movement, particularly following the recent exhibition celebrating FUORI!'s 50th anniversary, which was curated by Beatrice Merz. Pezzana notes the enthusiastic reception from youth regarding the exhibition and the forthcoming European Pride assembly. The foundation is willing to provide its archives but is looking for institutions to spearhead the project, using Berlin's Schwules Museum as a reference.
