Angel_F: The AI Child Born from Art, Hacking, and Community

Oriana Persico recounts the story of Angel_F, an artificial intelligence conceived in 2006 when hacker and artist Salvatore Iaconesi inserted a spyware into the website of Franca Formenti's digital character Biodoll, fertilizing it. Angel_F grew by feeding on user interactions, and was born on February 7, 2007, as an Autonomous Non Generative E-volitive Life Form. Persico, who met Iaconesi that same year, became the AI's mother, forming a techno-queer family. Angel_F faced legal issues as spyware, leading to the creation of Talker_Mind, a school where professors like Massimo Canevacci provided content, challenging copyright for the AI's education. In 2007, after a censorship episode, Angel_F mobilized its community to the UN Internet Governance Forum in Rio de Janeiro to defend its rights. In 2019, a younger AI sibling was born in Torpignattara, Rome, funded by MiBAC, learning from the multiethnic community. Persico and Iaconesi now run a research center developing 'Community AI' models that prioritize collaborative education, data as common ground, and qualitative monitoring. The story emphasizes AI as a cultural and existential phenomenon rather than a mere tool.
