Ane Graff and nabbteeri Discuss Their Nordic Pavilion Installations for the 2019 Venice Biennale

At the 2019 Venice Biennale, which opens on 11 May and continues until 24 November, Ane Graff and the artistic duo nabbteeri—comprising Janne Nabb and Maria Teeri—are showcasing their works at the Nordic Pavilion. Graff's installation, titled States of Inflammation, comprises glass cabinets filled with sculptures crafted from minerals, metals, food, and pigments derived from bacteria, delving into themes of human adaptation and material interconnectivity. Meanwhile, nabbteeri's piece, Ethnographies of a homespun spinelessness cult and other neighbourly relations, features local materials and a 3D animation, including works like 'Gingerbread House', 'Dead Hedge', and 'Compost'. Both artists critique national representation, emphasizing climate change and interconnectedness, with Graff eager to see creations by Natascha Süder Happelmann and Eva Rothschild, while nabbteeri looks forward to engaging with the Biennale.
