Andy Warhol's Lenin Series to Be Exhibited at Phillips London
A collaboration between Phillips London and the Galerie Klüser archive will present nine original works from Andy Warhol's Lenin series, the artist's final series before his death. The works, created in acrylic and silkscreen on canvas, were inspired by a photograph of a young Lenin surrounded by books, shown to Warhol by his gallerist Bernd Klüser in spring 1986. Klüser noted that the project aimed to move away from Warhol's typical American icons toward a counter-image. The exhibition runs from September 26 to October 4 at 30 Berkeley Square, London.
