Andrey Kuzkin's 2008 ZhZN Exhibition Revives Moscow Conceptualism at ARTStrelka-projects

On January 31, 2008, Andrey Kuzkin, an artist from Moscow, unveiled his inaugural solo exhibition titled ZhZN (Everything I Wanted to Say but Found Myself Unable To) at the ARTStrelka-projects gallery, under the curation of Olga Lopukhova. The installation showcased Soviet-era planchettes, a trunk filled with scrawled notes, and a reception table adorned with labeled bottles of common beverages. Outside the gallery, a banner proclaimed 'ALL THAT EXISTS IS MINE,' while Kuzkin was found lying under a blanket inside. Featured works included Who Needs It? (2008) and Mother Bought a New Brick-Red Beret (2008). Since its establishment in 2004, ARTStrelka-projects has played a crucial role in Moscow's contemporary art landscape, garnering significant attention for Kuzkin.
