Andrew Ginzel's Art Exhibition List Evolves into artcritical's Comprehensive NYC Guide
Back in 2004, Andrew Ginzel, an artist, started gathering exhibition information for his multimedia class at SVA and shared it with friends. This project turned into a decade-long commitment to creating straightforward art event listings in New York City. Although he stopped his independent listings last year, artcritical appointed new editors for New York City, Philadelphia, and Hudson, inviting Ginzel to run their listings. Working with developer François Huyghe, they improved the organization of exhibitions by location. THE LIST now includes formats like WEEK AT A GLANCE and CURRENT by neighborhood, plus sections for LECTURES/EVENTS and FUTURE SHOWS. Users can personalize info and create PDFs. Ginzel encourages community input via listings@artcritical.com, and daily updates are posted on social media. The original list, titled SOME but not all SHOWS TO SEE January 16, 2004, credited artcritical.com for its comprehensive approach to listings.
