Andrew Erdos: Glass Sculpture Meets Landscape at Aix-en-Provence
American glass artist Andrew Erdos, known for merging ancient glass techniques with digital technology, presents his exhibition 'De la terre jaillit la lumière' at the Musée du Pavillon de Vendôme in Aix-en-Provence from February 7 to May 24. Erdos, who moved to Paris in 2022 after living in Brooklyn, founded POUSH Hot Glass in 2025 at the POUSH art center in Aubervilliers, a space for glassblowing workshops, meetings, and performances. His work, which combines blown glass with materials like aluminum, stone, and ceramic, draws inspiration from rocks, crystals, mountains, volcanoes, and glaciers. For the Aix exhibition, he created a series of 'Ghost Vase' using oak branches from trees planted in 1665 that were cut down the previous year, melting glass onto them in front of the public. Erdos describes his approach as 'sculpture in the spirit of plein air painters.' His career includes exhibitions at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt, and the Mobilier national in Paris. Born in 1985 in Norwalk, Connecticut, he earned a BFA from Alfred University in 2007 and won the Rakow Commission from the Corning Museum of Glass in 2013.
